Making Room for Myself

Last weekend was a clear turning point for me careerwise. I have started a new job working for a reality TV casting company. My responsibilities significantly increased over the weekend. My skills in video editing became indispensible to my boss, thus thrusting me into excellent standing in his regard.

All I feel at liberty to disclose right now is that a significant step in my life plan has been achieved... I now work in the enertainment industry... and it looks like it's just the beginning.

Am I to understand you are going to work for a reality TV show as an editor of the footage? I'm not a fan of "reality' TV because the reality is that editing actually removes the reality, beyond the fact that the reality premise right from the beginning is fantasy. There have been many instances of different reality shows not living up to their promises to the participants. You may in your daily job begin to find yourself wondering about the ethics of what you are involved in. On the other hand we all have to make a living, don't we? We all have to face ethical dilemmas usually on a day to day basis, especially when working for a corporation that adheres to mainly one "ethic", the bottom line.

I don't work with the show footage... yet.

You make some valid points but the only thing real about reality TV is the people that "star" in the shows. The editing changes the reality... but so does the presence of cameras and camera operators. Reality TV is mostly about getting real reactions from real people in predominantly unreal circumstances.

Hey Michael...remember me? Stacy Harp, Randall's wife? :)

Congrats! I was just viewing your video and reading over your blog! You totally Rock man! Praise God for the open doors coming your way.

I think about you often, and I'm glad that the Lord is blessing your integrity and talent. I'm going to add you to my blog roll over at my blog. I'm getting close to 60 hits a day and I'll plug you.

Of course, maybe you're getting more than that and I don't need to plug you... :) Either way, I still will!

Now if I could only get Randall to do a blog then the world would be even a better place.
